Yesterday, I received my copy of GT5: Prologue and I can easily say; "I hadn't had white knuckles like I did playing this game, in a long time". When the game first started great graphics were expected, but such photo realism (even though I had seen the videos online), it blew my mind. But a game can't rely on graphics alone, so let's get to the review. But before that, I would like to make clear that I have full knowledge of this game being not the real deal but an indication of what's to come later, so there will be no complaining on how this one has 70 cars where GT4 had 400 or how little amount of tracks there are.
Those who played the Gran Turismo series' earlier titles would know, when the game starts players are given a certain amount of credit (35000 cr in this title) to purchase a low level, rather slow even, car to get into weekend special races to build up some cash. With the money players can upgrade their existing vehicle and/or buy a new ride that fares better...and repeat the process until the baddest ride in the game and a whole lot more end up in the garage.
The game handles as one would expect from a game that prides itself as a true driving simulator. Although, this time around there is the added, easier physics(standard) and the almost impossible(professional). With standard being default, it is a lot easier to go around the track before sliding out the course which makes it much more fun for average noob(I mean gamer).
Another addition is the implementation of online racing for the first time in the series. It is about time players are given the chance to show off their skill to others on the net. With the inclusion of Internet came GTtv, it is where players can see episodic videos on real cars and drivers.
Graphics are something out of this world is the least to say about it. I mean Polyphony really held nothing back...With each car pushing some Godly amount of polygons, driving on the most realistic looking asphalt I have ever laid eyes on, in a video game. The way sun shines on it, is something to see. And the game menu displaying the car players are driving, parked at a gorgeous background left me drooling for a good minute.

Sounds, are the best in the series and probably better than most games out there. Specially those with sound systems out there can take advantage of the game accurately positioning the cars behind them, because one cannot miss the loud roar of the engine revving at full speed...breathing down our necks.
By now there should be no doubt that, this game will get a good rating, but that doesn't mean it is without its flaws. We are told once the Gran Turismo 5 comes out, there will be damage added through DLCs until then I have to admit...what we got with Prologue is LAME.
Online is still brand new to GT, so at times it can get REALLY LAGGY. And some customization would be really nice.
Graphics: 10
Absolutely stunning. The only thing I can tell you, my girlfriend was sitting on the couch all lazy, but when she saw the game and jumped up, asking; "The hell kinda graphics are those?".
Sound: 8
Vroooooooom, and Blow-off Valve plus tire screech. But one thing missing...sound of metal crunching, glass shattering.
Gameplay: 8
The same old GT, with a little bit ease on Standard Physics settings.
Tilt: 6
I admit, this is a gorgeous game that will keep me busy for some time, but it still isn't a complete game.
Overall: 8
I would strongly recommend anyone with PS3 to rent this game, but I'd say at $39.99, it is nothing more than a rental.
